Health Technician, collecting water samples

One of the biggest challenges facing Water Boards in Honduras is finding a way to perform chemical, physical, and bacteriological analysis of the water in their systems. In the past, communities had to pay high fees for the analysis and travel outside their communities or to other departments to perform these tests. ADEC currently has a small laboratory, located in Marcala, La Paz, relatively close to all communities served in the region. ADEC’s technical analyst takes water samples in the community and then meets with the Board of Water and beneficiaries to explain the results of the analysis.
