Update Vail Rotary Club Project

By the end of June, the 20th, chlorinator tablets that were needed have been installed. The Circuit Rider, Juan Ferrufino, installed ten in Municipio de Lauterique, which is located south of La Paz. The Circuit Rider, Carlos Deras, installed ten in Municipio Dolores which is located in Intibuca. Besides, the technician Oneida Lara, provided training courses regarding home hygiene to 165 housewives all around the ten communities benefited by the project, in Municipio Yamaranguila, which is located in La Paz. Vail Rotary Club and ADEC are conducting a project that involves the installation of 30 chlorinators tablet in the departments of La Paz, Intibuca and Lempira, bacteriological tests and training to the Water Boards and communities for matters of disinfection of water, health and hygiene.

Update Circuit Rider Elias Mejia From La Paz

Currently, Circuit Rider, Elías Mejía, is offering technician support to 60 water systems distributed all around the municipalities of Santa Elena, Yarula, Opatoro, Santa Ana and Cabañas, with a population of approximately 20,000 people.

From January to May, 273 visits have been made to the systems to check on the water so that it is handled in a safe, trustworthy and disinfected way. Around 80 % of the systems work properly and have Chlorine.

There has also been training of 16 health promoters in the monitoring of the amount of Chlorine in the water and how to take samples for analysis in a right way. As well, the training of 10 Health volunteers in topics such as reasonable use of water and proper use of latrines and to 30 Water Boards in topics regarding Chlorination and Administration.

The installation of 10 new Chlorinator tablets in the communities of Cueva del Monte, Palo Blanco, Sabanetilla, Guatalón, San Miguel, Las Queseras, Tizate, Orégano, Juniguara and Tierra Prieta, in the Departamento La Paz.

The gathering of 89 samples of water to perform the corresponding bacteriological, physical and chemical analysis.
